Set display mode, PDF quality, background and navigation

Apply the controls to the right part of the publication, without confusing viewer backgrounds with page colors.

1. Compare display modes

  1. Under Document → Display mode choose Classic Page Flip, Slider, Slide or Coverflow Gallery.
  2. The preview reloads with the current project; you do not need to reimport.
  3. Test navigation and zoom in Full preview. Slider shows one page at a time; switching mode does not reflow text.

Display mode changes the Studio preview: Classic Page Flip, Slider, Slide and Coverflow are available there. The current HTML and ZIP exporter, also used by Publish Online, produces a Classic Page Flip viewer. A Slider or Coverflow preview does not mean the exported publication uses that effect. Check the final output before choosing a format for your readers.

2. Set PDF image quality before import

  1. Choose Standard, High or Ultra in Document. High uses scale 2 / JPEG 0.94; a typical A4 page is about 1190 × 1684 px.
  2. Import after making the choice. Changing quality afterwards does not rerender existing pages.
  3. For a comparison save the project first, then import the PDF again with the other setting. Ultra cannot restore detail missing from the source.

3. Change viewer background or page color

  1. Click a Background thumbnail or choose Color.
  2. Adjust Opacity and inspect the area outside the pages.
  3. For your own file choose Custom image and check PRO availability.

4. Configure reader controls

  1. In Navigation choose Bottom navigator style, for example Compact Dark or Minimal Light.
  2. Enable Show bottom navigator. Set Arrow style, size, Icon color and Button color.
  3. Open Full preview and check that the controls do not cover important text or buttons.
  4. Save Project to preserve the settings, then export again or Update the hosted edition.
